The Challenge
A recurring international art biennale in Europe needed a wayfinding and engagement tool that could keep pace with a live event, with participating artists updating or changing installations throughout the festival’s run.
Our Approach
The city map and AR viewing were built to work together rather than as separate features, so attendees could move from finding an artist to viewing their work in AR without leaving the app. Content delivery runs through the cloud rather than being baked into the app itself, so artists can update their work mid-event without triggering an app-store update, and the backend was built to hold up under the traffic spikes typical of a festival’s peak hours.
Key Features
- Interactive city map to locate artists and installations
- AR artwork viewing with plane detection and image recognition
- Cloud-based content delivery so artists can update work without an app update
- Backend built for concurrent use during peak event traffic
Outcome
Built for art exhibitions and cultural events where visitors need both wayfinding and an immersive way to engage with the work on display.
