WHAT WE DO WITH UNITY

Four ways we can help

Build your game from scratch

Bring the idea. We handle game design, Unity development, art and launch, and you own everything we make.

Example: A block based arcade game for an independent developer

Fix or finish a Unity project

Slow frame rate, crashes, or a game that is stuck at 80 percent? We find the cause, fix it and get it shipped.

Take your game to new devices

Bring a Unity game to iPhone, Android, PC, Meta Quest or the web, and make it run well on each one.

Example: An English learning game for phones and tablets

Add Unity developers to your team

Experienced Unity developers who work in your tools and join your daily meetings. They can start immediately. See rates →

WHY UNITY, IN PLAIN WORDS

Unity is our main engine. Here is why.

A game engine is the toolkit a game is built with. Unity is the one we know best, and for most projects it is the right choice.

One game, many devices

We build your game once in Unity and release it on iPhone, Android, PC, headsets and the web.

What it means for you: You reach more players without paying to build the same game several times.

Made for phones and headsets

Unity is the most used engine for mobile games, and for AR and VR apps.

What it means for you: Your game runs smoothly on the devices your players really own, not only on expensive ones.

AR and VR are built in

Unity includes the tools for augmented reality on phones and virtual reality on headsets.

What it means for you: You can add an AR or VR mode later without starting again in a different engine.

Easy to hand over

Unity is widely taught and widely used, so developers are easy to find.

What it means for you: You are never locked in to us. Any Unity team can pick up your project.

Quick to prototype

A playable idea takes days or weeks in Unity, not months.

What it means for you: You find out early whether the game is fun, before you spend the big budget.

Room to go deeper

When the standard look is not enough, we write our own shaders, compute shaders and tools on top of Unity.

What it means for you: Your game looks like yours and still runs fast. See the demos below.

Is Unity always the right answer? No. For 3D that must open instantly in a browser we sometimes use web tools instead. We will tell you honestly which fits.

MADE IN UNITY

Watch our Unity work running

Three short demos from our own lab, all built in Unity. The graphics are plain on purpose, so you can see the technique itself.

PROCEDURAL ANIMATIONA slingshot made entirely by codeThe band stretches, twists and snaps back with no hand made animation. Even the shape of the sling is generated.
PROCEDURAL CONTENT GENERATIONA new island every timeThe same rules grow a different island on every run. This is how a game gets endless levels without endless artists.
AR GAMEPLAYTwo fighters on a real pavementLife size characters placed in the real world through a phone camera, trading punches and kicks.
OUR UNITY SKILLS

What our Unity developers are good at

  • Procedural content generation: levels, worlds and rewards the game builds by itself
  • Shaders and visual effects: a look of your own, not the standard engine look
  • Compute shaders and performance: big crowds and effects that still run smoothly on a phone
  • Multiplayer: several players in one game world at the same moment
  • AR Foundation: augmented reality on iPhone and Android
  • XR Interaction Toolkit: VR on Meta Quest headsets, with hand tracking
  • Computer vision and OpenCV: games and apps that understand what the camera sees
  • Level editors and Unity tools: your designers add content without a programmer

Each one is explained in plain words on our game development page.

Questions about Unity game development

How much does Unity game development cost?

A Prototype Sprint is a fixed $4,500 and takes 2 to 3 weeks. Full Unity games start at $8,000. Dedicated Unity developers cost $20 to $40 per hour. The final price depends on the size of the game, the art style and the platforms.

Is Pixent a Unity game development agency or a studio?

Both words fit. We are a studio, because our own senior developers do the work. You can also use us like a Unity game development agency: hand over the whole project, or hire Unity developers by the hour or by the month.

How do I choose the best Unity game development company?

Do not take anyone’s word for it, including ours. Ask to play something the company built. Ask who will write your code. Ask for a build you can play every week, a price in writing, and full ownership of the Unity project. A good company says yes to all five.

Can you take over a Unity project another team started?

Yes. We review the project first, tell you plainly what state it is in, and then fix, finish or extend it.

Can I hire one Unity developer instead of a whole team?

Yes. One developer or several, hourly or monthly, and they can start immediately. See Hire developers.

Why Unity and not another engine?

Unity is the strongest choice for mobile, AR and VR, it is quick to prototype in, and it is easy to find developers for. It is also the engine our team knows best. Our founder has built in Unity since 2016, which means faster work and fewer surprises for you.

Who owns the Unity project and the source code?

You do. The code, the artwork and the idea are yours, and we hand over the complete Unity project.
