A VIP tour of a power plant, without the hard hats

We turned one of Dubai's largest energy plants into a virtual tour that VIP guests can take in minutes, from a chair at headquarters. It is now the company's main showcase, used every day.

THE PROBLEM

A plant too big, too technical and too risky to tour

The company regularly hosts VIP guests, investors and partners who want to understand how their plant works. But the plant is huge, highly technical, and not a place you can safely walk guests through.

Brochures and videos could not show the scale, or explain how energy moves from one part of the plant to the next. Guests left impressed by the slides, but without really understanding the operation.

They needed a way for any guest to see the whole plant, understand it in minutes, and remember it long after the visit.

HOW WE SOLVED IT

Bring the plant to the guest, in a headset

We built a guided virtual reality tour. Here is what it does for guests, the hard parts along the way, and how we got past them.

  1. 01

Fly over the plant, not through it

Guests take a guided flight above every zone of the plant. A narrator explains each stage as they pass, so the whole journey of energy makes sense in one visit.

THE CHALLENGEMost VIP guests had never worn a headset, and plant layouts are complex.
HOW WE SOLVED ITWe designed one simple route with clear stops, so nobody gets lost and every guest sees the same story.
  2. 02

    No controllers, just your hands

Guests point and gesture with their own hands to move and choose. Nothing to learn, nothing to hold.

THE CHALLENGEHand tracking can feel jumpy, and a confused VIP is a bad first impression.
HOW WE SOLVED ITWe tested and tuned the gestures with first time users again and again until anyone could use it within seconds.
  3. 03

Real enough to feel the heat

Special pods around the guest add wind, warmth, cold and scent at the right moments, timed to what they see.

THE CHALLENGEEvery effect had to land at exactly the right second, or the illusion breaks.
HOW WE SOLVED ITWe synced each effect to the tour timeline, so the breeze arrives as you fly over open ground and the heat as you pass the hottest zone.
  4. 04

A short tour or a deep dive

Hosts pick a quick version for busy guests or an extended version for those who want the full story.

THE CHALLENGEThe plant had to look highly detailed yet run smoothly on a standalone headset, with no computer attached.
HOW WE SOLVED ITWe built the plant in high detail, then trimmed every model and texture so it stays smooth for the full tour.
THE OUTCOME

Now the main showcase, every single day

The VR tour became the centrepiece of the company's headquarters. Hosts use it daily to welcome VIP guests, and visitors walk away actually understanding how the plant works.

  • Guests see the whole plant in minutes, without a site visit
  • No safety gear, transport or plant downtime for visits
  • The same experience works at events and corporate presentations
