CASE STUDY · CORPORATE AR

Print that plays video

For a Big Four consultancy, we built a private phone app for their VIP client meetings. Point the camera at a printed brochure, and an explainer video plays right on top of it.

THE PROBLEM

High value meetings, explained on paper

When the firm meets high net worth clients, printed brochures and presentations do much of the talking. But paper cannot show a service in action, and the most important ideas are often the hardest to explain.

The firm wanted its printed material to do more in the room: play a clear explainer video at the exact moment a client is looking at the page.

It had to be private, work on their team’s phones in any meeting room, and be easy to update.

HOW WE SOLVED IT

Turn every page into a play button

We built an augmented reality app that recognises printed images and plays the right video on top of them.

  1. 01

    Point, and it plays

Users open the app and point their phone at a printed image. A short video appears on top of it, explaining what they are looking at.

THE CHALLENGERecognising images reliably in poor light, at odd angles and on different phones.
HOW WE SOLVED ITWe tuned the image recognition and tested on many devices until videos locked on quickly and stayed in place.
  2. 02

    Works on every phone

One app runs on both iPhone and Android, so staff and clients can all use it.

THE CHALLENGEPhones vary hugely in camera quality, screen size and power.
HOW WE SOLVED ITWe built once and optimised for each platform, so older phones still play smoothly.
  3. 03

    No internet? No problem

Content is stored on the phone, so it works in meeting rooms, at events and while travelling.

THE CHALLENGEVideos are large, and office connections are often weak.
HOW WE SOLVED ITWe packaged and compressed the content so it loads fast and plays offline.
  4. 04

    Easy to update

New images and videos can be added without rebuilding the app.

THE CHALLENGEMarketing content changes often, and app updates are slow.
HOW WE SOLVED ITWe set up simple content management and custom branding, ready to track what people watch.
THE OUTCOME

Brochures that present themselves

The firm’s team now uses the app in VIP client meetings, turning printed brochures into interactive explainers that leave a lasting impression.

  • Clients get the explanation exactly when they look at the page
  • A memorable, modern touch in high value meetings
  • Private and secure, built for internal use only
